Her Excellency Dr. Karima Hamid Faryabi, the Minister of Economy in the presence of (Mr. Ruhollah Khanzadeh, the Governor of Kandahar province, Mr. Matiullah Jahid, the Executive Director of EZ-Kar, Mr. Abdul Qayyum, the Deputy Chairman of the Provincial Council and Mr. Mohammad Rafi Hayat, the Mayor of Kandahar) inaugurated the Haji Aziz Road in the 5th district of Kandahar province, which was recently asphalted and completed under EZ-Kar project’s funding.
First, the Governor of Kandahar province called on the residents to pay attention to the maintenance of the roads and contribute as good citizens in protecting the national wealth.
Subsequently, her excellency Minister of Economy reiterated that the development of infrastructures not only lead to economic and social growth, but also play an important role in ensuring peace and welfare in society. Ms. Faryabi added that the construction of roads, in addition to providing life facilities particularly transport it also strengthens the foundations of peace, security and the living conditions of the people.
In the meantime, Mr. Matiullah Jahid, Executive Director of EZ-Kar and Mr. Mohammad Rafi Hayat, Mayor of Kandahar, said that this road which is 924 meters long and 12 meters wide, was funded by the World Bank at a cost of AFN295,758,30 . The road has been constructed and asphalted in seven months. This project is the first work of EZ-Kar Project, which was led by the Ministry of Economy in close cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Refugees, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance and Kabul Municipality, which only facilitated the daily activities of local people, but also created 4,200 working days for young job seekers.
